Switch cycles are the lifespan of a lamp expressed in the amount of on- and off cycles. By this, you can determine if a certain lamp is suitable for the preferred application you would like it to use for.

For instance, the lighting in a bathroom will have a higher amount of being switched on and off than for example a living room. A light source with a higher switch cycle would be more suitable for this area.
