New energy label for lamps
Since 1 September 2021, the new European energy labelling (EU) 2019/2015 (ELR) applies. Almost all LED lamps, fluorescent lamps and energy-saving lamps have therefore received a new energy label.
The new scale runs from:
- A (dark green) = very energy efficient
- to G (red) = least energy efficient
This makes it easier to compare energy-efficient products with each other.
What has changed?
Previously, the energy label ranged from A++ to E.
Because many products already had the A++ label, this gave little distinction and became unclear for consumers.
The new scale is therefore stricter and clearer.
Important to know
- Lamps have not become less efficient
- The assessment has been tightened
- Space has been made for future, even more efficient products
The highest class (A) is currently almost empty, so that even more efficient lamps can be added in the future.
How does old compare with new?
Products with a:
- B, C or D label (new)
are often comparable to - A+ or A++ (old)
So it is normal for a lamp to now have a lower label than before, without it being less efficient.
