FAQ

What types of sensor lights are there?

Sensor lighting is an ideal solution for large buildings where lights don’t need to be on all the time in every area. Sensors respond to heat, movement, or lack of light and automatically switch the lights on when one of these factors is detected.

Here is an overview of the different types of sensors that can be used indoors and outdoors:

High Frequency

  • Detects movements, even very small ones.

  • Perfect for offices, schools, and as security lighting, as the sensor doesn’t need to directly ‘see’ what it detects.

Dusk Sensor

  • Detects the amount of daylight and adjusts the lighting accordingly.

  • Switches the lights on at dusk and off at sunrise or during the day when there is enough natural light.

Motion Sensor

  • Detects movement and, unlike the high-frequency sensor, must be visible, as it needs to ‘see’ the movement to detect it.

Passive Infrared (PIR)

  • Detects heat differences and movement from people or animals that emit heat.

Sensor lighting helps save energy, increases convenience, and can improve safety inside and around buildings.
